Join us for this exciting double-bill with two outstanding non-binary musical artists, Q. Brooke Bachand and Finley Rose.

Q. Brooke Bachand (they/them) is a consummate performer who is clearly at ease on stage. Known for their powerful fiddle, captivating vocals and their contagious energy, their love of Folk and Celtic music is always at the forefront as they bless audiences with energetic and spirited performances that showcase their fiddle & vocal talents as well as their love of story-sharing.

Once a teen fiddle star , Q has blossomed & grown into their (non-binary) gender identity and life’s purpose & are singing rebel ballads and folk songs (a capella & self-accompanied), interspersed with rip-roaring fiddle tunes to help heal the soul. Their sets will equally inspire as they will bring you to tears or have you clapping along (& stomping your feet) !

With a background in classical violin, it’s their fiddle skills have always shone with beautiful tone and passionate delivery. After 10 years as a successful touring musician, Q completed an MA in Traditional Irish Music Performance at the University of Limerick.  Interestingly, as some of you know, Q also holds an MSc in Infectious Diseases & Public Health from VU Amsterdam; for which they lived and conducted research in Kasese district, Uganda.

After many years living abroad in Amsterdam, Limerick and Montreal, Q made their way back to hometown Victoria. It’s always a pleasure seeing our homegrown talent performs.

Finley Rose (they/them) is a professional fiddler, singer and banjo player living on the territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ people, colonially known as Victoria BC. Finley’s songwriting draws on the darkness and light of human experience; a soaring vocal line over a resonant violin phrase , a heartfelt song, intricate and intimate. Finley also delves into traditional folk material – bringing a fresh interpretation of songs from many different places. from the Appalachian mountains to Quebec to melodic Irish and Scottish tunes, they cover wide musical ground with articulate playing. Finn also performs frequently in Canada and the U.S. with their bands Clanna Morna and Ghostly Hounds.
