Hailed as the best Celtic guitarist in the world, Tony McManus was listed as one of the 50 transcendental guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine. Conjuring a unique but universal language from that most ubiquitous of instruments, the acoustic guitar, Tony McManus has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, his fiendishly dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic diaspora. McManus is increasingly being acknowledged also as a pioneering figure in bridging the realms of Celtic music and other guitar genres.

A Beatles band with a slightly different take. Their focus is on the Beatles from Hamburg, to the Cavern, and the BBC studios- the songs they wrote, the songs they covered and the songs they loved. They play early period songs, with a nod to the more well-known tracks. They cover many of the Beatles seminal influences, from early rock and roll classics like Chuck Berry’s Memphis, to the slinky R&B of Anna and on to the country and rockabilly vein of I Got a Woman (their version of the Beatles doing Elvis’s cover of a Ray Charles song…).

Through twenty years and a couple of thousand shows together in bands such as The Foggy Hogtown Boys and The Lonesome Ace StringbandJohn Showman and Chris Coole have developed a deep and instinctual musical bond. Their music lurks in a truly unique space that is somewhere on the outskirts of old-time, bluegrass, and folk. The songs of John Hartford, Hank Williams, Dock Boggs, and The Band share space with the fiddle tunes of Eck Robertson and Ed Haley. The duo’s original songs and tunes take in all these vistas and paint something both personal and timely.

Don Ross and Julie Malía, both well-established, award winning solo performers, have decided to form a new musical partnership. While continuing to play solo internationally, Don and Julie have been performing many of their shows as a double bill since 2023, performing all over Europe and North America. Don Ross was born and raised in Montreal, the son of a Mi’kmaw Indigenous mother and a Scottish immigrant father, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music) degree from Toronto’s York University and started working full-time as a musician in 1988. That year he won the US National Fingerpick Guitar Championship for the first time. In 2021, Don won the prestigious Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts, administered by the Canada Council for the Arts. Julie Malía is one of the most sought-after soloists on the European acoustic scene. Her repertoire covers an impressively broad musical spectrum – from self-penned heartfelt songs, very original song-cover arrangements, and various virtuoso styles on the classical guitar through to modern fingerstyle arrangements. There are few musicians who can boast such mastery of all these related but very different genres.
