A group of outstanding west coast Canadian musicians are coming together to pay tribute to the man who is perhaps Americana Music’s most celebrated singer/songwriter, JOHN PRINE. Join Kendal Carson , Doug Cox, Tom and Kalissa Landa and Mick Sherlock as they dig into their renditions of songs from the John Prine catalogue.
Kendel Carson is an accomplished fiddle player, singer, songwriter, and recording artist. She has recorded and toured extensively with Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) for the better part of the last decade, and has a vast musical history that includes playing with John Prine, Chip Taylor, Spirit of the West, Lindi Ortega, Jim Byrnes, Barney and Dustin Bentall, The Deep Dark Woods, Matt Mays, Kandle and countless other celebrated artists.
Doug Cox is a multi-instrumentalist/producer who has spent time touring and recording with the likes of England’s Long John Baldry, Guitar-Slinger Amos Garrett, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Salil Bhatt, Austin’s Betty Soo & Sam Baker, Nashville’s Kim Richey and Linda McRae, Celtic/Roots super trio, Strung with April Verch and Tony McManus, Indigenous Artist Leonard Sumner, and many more.
Tom and Kalissa Landa are well known for their stunning work with Canada’s legendary roots band the Paperboys as well as their newest group Locarno and the BC World Music Collaborative.
Mick Sherlock, a latecomer to performing, is a fabulous harmonica player and traditional folk singer and always has a new trick or two up his sleeve to share with his fellow performers and audience members.
One of the things they all have in common is a shared reverence for the brilliant songs of John Prine who had a profound influence on each of them, throughout their musical development!
